Conference Interpreting
Simultaneous: In this mode, the interpreter translates the speech at the same time as the speaker delivers it, that is, the translation into the target language is delivered simultaneously. This mode of interpreting requires booths and sound equipment. Simultaneous interpreting is used in congresses, conferences, courses and seminars.
Consecutive: The speaker makes pauses so that the interpreter can translate what has been said so far, before the speaker resumes the speech. It is the mode of interpreting most often used in press conferences, products and services presentations, among others.
Bilateral or liaison: This mode is most often used in meetings, in which either two or a limited number of interlocutors take part. The interpreter translates each reply of the participants. Liaison or bilateral interpreting is also used in other kind of events, such as international shows and exhibitions.
